Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2025
These terms govern your use of idle. We tried to write them like humans, not lawyers. But they're still legally binding, so please read them.
Acceptance of Terms
By using idle, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, that's okay — but please don't use the app. No hard feelings.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use idle.
- If you're under 18, you need to have parental or guardian consent.
Your Account
- You're responsible for keeping your account secure.
- One account per person, please.
- Don't share your account credentials with others.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app settings.
Acceptable Use
idle is built for genuine connection. Please keep it that way:
- Don't harass, bully, or threaten other users.
- Don't send spam or unsolicited content.
- Don't impersonate others.
- Don't use the app for illegal activities.
- Don't attempt to circumvent security features.
- Don't reverse engineer the app.
Content
- You retain ownership of content you create.
- Messages and voice memos are end-to-end encrypted and ephemeral — they disappear after 23 hours.
- Because content is encrypted, we cannot access or moderate it. You are responsible for what you share.
- Door customizations and bulletin posts are visible to your friends.
Privacy
Your use of idle is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We take your privacy seriously — it's kind of our whole thing. Please read it.
Termination
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We don't do this lightly.
- You may delete your account at any time. We'll be sad to see you go.
- Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our data retention policy.
Disclaimers
idle is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We work hard to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee perfection.
- We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
- We're not responsible for content shared between users (remember, we can't even see it).
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, idle's total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us — which is probably $0. We're a free app built by people who care about making something good.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you via the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
